Tutorial Tuesday Winter Themed Explosion Box with Darsie Bruno

For Tutorial Tuesday, JustRite Papercraft designer, Darsie Bruno, shows us how to create a darling Snowflake Explosion Box using our newest Snowflakes and Tags Dies set and coordinates it with our Snowflake Cling stamp set and Applique Christmas Labels One Clear Stamps. She shows how to add glitter to snowflake die cuts using Ken Oliver’s Stick-it Adhesive sheets and how to achieve a wintry effect for backgrounds using acrylic paint and a stencil brush. As an extra bonus, she also demonstrates how to create a sweet snowflake ornament for the top of her box! Make the box a memory box by adding pictures of your loved ones playing in the snow or add photos from the holidays.

JustRite Papercraft November Release

Welcome to the JustRite November Release.  Today we are sharing with you our entire November Release - 
5 New Dies and 4 New Stamp Sets.  This release has a little something for everyone - Fall dies, Christmas stamps and dies, Baby themed stamps and dies. Our second die is this gorgeous large snowflake die with gift tags - DIE-05001 Snowflake and Tag Dies that can be used as home decor, gift tags or cardmaking.  The tag dies in this set are designed to coordinate with
our November Christmas Release set Christmas Mini Tags. This die is designed to have an offset mat layer to really make the snowflake design pop.

Kristi Schurr used our new DIE-05000 Autumn Leaf Dies to cut burlap leaves to accent her card and used a sentiment from our CR-03870 Shabby Chic Autumn Leaves Clear Stamps to stamp on her seam binding ribbon.

Darsie Bruno designed this playful autumn themed card using our  DIE-05000 Autumn Leaf Dies paired with the coordinating stamp set CR-03870 Shabby Chic Autumn Leaves Clear Stamps.

You are going to love what the design team created with our new baby collection of dies and stamps.

Our first die in our baby collection is DIE-05002 It's a Boy Dies which is a 6 piece set of dies with a mat layer for the It's a Boy sentiment.

Kathy Jones designed this beautiful  "You are braver than you believe" card using our CR-05006 Remember You Are Clear Stamps.

Angela Barkhouse designed this gorgeous layout of her grand daughter titled "Be your own kind of Beautiful Girl". Angela trimmed of the "It's a"from our DIE-05003 It's a Girl Dies giving her just the sentiment "Girl" which was just perfect for her layout. Tutorial Tuesday Holiday Shadow boxes designed by Darsie Bruno

For Tutorial Tuesday, JustRite Papercraft designer, Darsie Bruno shows us how to create a charming Holiday Shadowbox using paper, our Christmas stamps and Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics die templates. See how easy it is to make a shadowbox that will fit on a desk, mantle or countertop. Whether you use our elegant or cute Christmas stamps, you will have a lasting home décor piece for the holidays.

 Darsie's Snowman Shadow box.

 

To create your shadow box cut 3 panels - cut 1 panel sized 6" x 7",  cut 2 panels sized 6" x 7 ½". Score on each side at ¼ inch and fold. 

Next cut the last panel is sized 6" x 10". Score on each side at ½" and 1 ½" and fold. This panel is the front of your shadow box.

Using Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A #3, #5 and #7 (die #1 is the smallest die). Place die #7 in the middle of the first (non-scored) panel, secure with tape, and cut with your machine.

Place that frame onto one of the ¼ inch scored panels, then place die #5 into the center, secure with tape, and cut.

Place that frame on top of the last ¼ inch scored panel, then place die #3 into the center, secure with tape, and cut.

Stamp and emboss each panel with Snow Days Background Cling stamp.

To create the snow hills, used Spellbinders Curved Borders One with cardstock. Make two of these.

To decorate the shadowbox, use Applique Christmas Labels One Clear Stamps and Christmas Stitched with Love Clear Stamps with their coordinating SVG Offset file. Color and glitter each stamped image.

To put the shadowbox together, add glue to the ¼" scored panel with the smallest opening and glue to the side flaps of the main large panel.  Add a snow hill to the frame. Add glue to the second ¼" scored panel with the middle sized opening and glue on top of the previous frame. Add a snow hill, the snowman and a snowflake.

Glue the final frame on top and add the trees, a sentiment piece and the remaining snowflake.

Tutorial Tuesday Altered Chalkboard with Heidi Blankenship

For Tutorial Tuesday, JustRite Papercraft Designer Heidi Blankenship shares a DIY Embellished Chalkboard that would be perfect for gift giving.  This is a quick, easy, and inexpensive gift to create in time for the holidays.

Instructions:

I used Tim Holtz Distress Stain Vintage Photo to cover up the raw wood on the easel.  Instead of spraying the stain I used a paint brush to apply it directly to the wood.   Then I set the easel aside to dry.

To create the embellishments for my Count Down to Christmas Chalkboard I used the these stamps- Appliqué Christmas Labels One Clear Stamps, CR-02024 Christmas Stitched with Love Clear Stamps and their coordinating SVG'S - SVG Appliqué Christmas Labels One Cut File Digital Download for CR-02026, SVG Christmas Stitched with Love Vintage Labels Seven Digital Cut File Download for CR-02024
and JustRite JB-04895 Vintage Labels Seven Dies.

I used Spectrum Noir™ Markers to color the images. These are the colors for the snowman-Body IB1, Scarf TB1, TB4, Nose OR2, OR3, Cheeks PP1.For the hat I used GG3, GG5, TB1, LG5, DR4, for the twig arms I used EB3 and for the holly leaves I used LG5, JG5.

To assemble the Christmas embellishment first I used Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue to adhere the twig arms to the snowman. Next I added 3D Foam Squares to the back of all the cutouts and placed them as shown.  Then I added a magnet to the front of the chalkboard and the back of the embellishment.  To finish off the Christmas embellishment I added some large red bling to look like berries.

Here is a quick tip--When creating several cutouts to keep for extras put a little X on the backside so when you go to stamp you will know at a quick glance which side is the front.

I used the Offset files for all of the cutouts I created for the project.  I stamped the images using Memento Tuxedo Black  ink.

To create the charms I used clear Shrinky Dinks and the large ornament stamp from the CL-02057 Merry Christmas Ornament Cling Stamp.I used four colors of StazOn ink for the charms--Forest Green, Teal Blue, Black Cherry, and Ultramarine.  In the video Heidi shows you how to make the charm with the Forest Green StazOn.

The Shrinky Dink plastic is kind of slick so when you stamp carefully lay your block down and then press down firm but gently on the acrylic block so it doesn't slip or move.

Stamping Tip: If the stamp does happen to slip or move and you don't get a crisp image you can apply some StazOn Cleaner to a cotton ball and remove the ink.

To create the die cuts I used Spellbinders S4-401 2013 Heirloom Ornaments. To shrink the Shrinky-Dink, next I pre-heated the toaster oven for 325º. My toaster oven is only used for crafting and I cut a small piece from a craft mat to fit inside the tray for the toaster oven.To bake the image place the die cut  on to the craft mat and bake for 1-3 minutes.   If you have never used Shrinky Dinks (you should watch Heidi's video) to see the magic happen and what the plastic looks like as it is shrinking.  It curls, shrinks and then it will flatten back out.  Pretty Cool!

 

 

Here you can see what the die cut Shrinky Dink piece looked like before and after.  Another thing to remember is that the color of the ink will intensify or become darker after you bake the Shrinky Dink plastic.  

 Next I wanted to add a little more color to the charm so I turned it over and applied StazOn ink to the backside.  I used a cotton ball to apply the ink.  After applying the ink set the charms aside for a few minutes until the ink is dry. Here is a close up my finished wine glass charm in  StazOn Teal Blue so that you can see the added color.

To create my paper napkin ring I used Spellbinder S5-214 A2 Scalloped Borders Two. This is a great family project as your kids will love watching the images shrink in the toaster oven.

Here is the top view of my hot cocoa jar - which will be a gift for each of my holiday guest.  These would also be perfect for a Christmas Wedding as favors for your guest.
