Tips for designing a card by inking up an Acrylic Block

Today I am sharing with you a quick stamping  tip for creating a large watercolor stripe on your card.  I used distress markers to color directly onto an acrylic block. 

 

Next I spritz the block with water and stamped directly onto watercolor paper. For this card I didn't quite color with my distress markers far enough down on my acrylic block. To compensate, I simply used the block to drag the excess ink down the card front. To add more texture to the watercolor stripe next I colored with markers on the acrylic block and stamped into the watercolor stripe without spritzing the block with water. You can see how I added that texture layered in the video.  I also used a Misti Tool to stamp my image to ensure I got a nice crisp black impression.

JustRite Quick Tips for Creating a Shaker Card with Four in a Square Dies

For today's Tuesday Tutorial,  I am sharing how to create an Autumn Shaker Card using our Four in Square Dies paired with Multi-Step Seasonal Clear Stamps and Large Oval Celebrations Clear Stamps (Sentiments - Happy Birthday, You Make My Heart Smile).

 

 This is the closed view of my shaker card.

 Here you can see the construction of the shaker window. I used two acetate squares cut from Die #1, two white window frames using Die #1 and #2. To create the depth for the shaker card inset I die cut a piece of craft foam using die #1 and #2 together and then cut off the center grid leaving just a craft foam square which I adhered to the first piece of acetate.

 To create my Autumn Tree I used our new Multi-Step Seasonal Clear Stamps and sentiments from Large Oval Celebrations Clear Stamps

This is the inset cut you will get using the the ornate die from A2 Graceful Lines paired with one of the Card Basics Rectangle dies from A2 Card Front Basic Dies.  The oval and small rectangle dies in A2 Card Front Basics Dies were designed to compliment the ornate A2 Graceful Lines Die.   In the video I quickly show you all the different design options with these die elements.  

 

 I love how the die looks so different depending on where you place the sentiment elements.

 This is the die cut you get when you use both of the A2 Graceful Line Dies together.  To make the design really pop I used the outer die to cut a black mat.

Tutorial Tuesday - Quick Stamping Tip - how to work around a dull paper trimmer cutting blade

Don't you just hate it when you are in the middle of a project and you have a dull paper trimmer blade and you want to finish your project?  Here is my tip for working with paper burrs from a dull blade.
