 Eva Dobilas has a wonderful mixed media card to share today using  Extra Grand Sentiments Clear Stamps and  Modern Lattice Cling Background Stamp. To create her card Eva spread molding paste onto card stock, semi dried it and stamped the background stamp into the paste. One it was totally dry she painted it with watercolors and went over the raised lines with gold ink.  Just love it paired with a chalkboard banner.

Heidi Blankenship designed this awesome birthday card with a fun modern theme using our Extra Grand Sentiments Clear Stamps and our Modern Lattice Cling Background Stamp.  To create her card Heidi used white embossing powder and then watercolored he card using distress inks and distress markers and then added a few sequins.  Heidi created her card layers using Spellbinders S5-219 A2 Modern Stationary, S6-001 5x7 Matting Basics A.

 

Darsie Bruno designed this sweet sympathy card using Extra Grand Sentiments Clear Stamps, Garden Trellis Cling Background Stamp paired with Spellbinders Radiant Rectangles Dies and Die D-Lites Framed Floral Dies.

Kathy Jones designed this wonderful card for her grand father's birthday using our Extra Grand Sentiments Clear Stamps, Retro Sparkle Cling Background Stamp, Spellbinders Birds on a Wire Die and Labels Twenty Nine Dies. 

Marisa Job designed this sweet thank you card using our Extra Grand Sentiments Clear Stamps, Modern Lattice Cling Background Stamp.  Marisa used the following die to create her card JustRite Vintage Labels Nine Dies, Craft Dies by Sue Wilson-Italian Collection-Umbria paired with Spellbinders Grand Circles Dies, Blooms Three Dies, and Sprigs Dies.

Michele Kovack designed this wonderful thank you card using our Extra Grand Sentiments Clear Stamps and Modern Lattice Cling Background Stamp. To create her card she stamped and embosesed the background image and then watercolored over the embossed area.  

 Krisit Schurr designed this rustic/modern themed birthday card using our Extra Grand Sentiments Clear Stamps, Modern Lattice Cling Background Stamp paired with a burlap die cut, twine, a button and laser cut wooden leaves.

Tutorial Tuesday Watercolor Series Part I -Creating Designer Papers with Distress Inks and Distress Markers with Heidi Blankenship

Welcome to Tutorial Tuesday, today JustRite Papercraft designer Heidi Blankenship is sharing Four Watercolor Techniques  for creating designer watercolor paper.  This is part one in her new watercolor series.

I store my dies in Martha Stewart plastic pockets, which are in different sizes, they have cover flaps over each pocket, inside I place the dies on magnetic sheet cut to the pocket size. then label with name of co. on the plastic pocket. All are put in albums. sorted by theme.

Welcome to the first tutorial in Heidi Blankenship's Watercolor Tutorial Series.
Today Heidi will be showing you how to use your distress inks and distress markers to create designer watercolor papers for the backgrounds of your cards.  If you are reading this email from a feedburner email you can see Heidi's Video by clicking here.

 

If you are familar with basic watercolors tools you can skip ahead to the first project at (timestamp 8:24 -Learn how to use Distress Ink Pads to create this fun Birthday Card). 

For the first technique I will show you how to create a watercolor effect using an acrylic stamp block and Distress Inks.  

Use painters tape or washi tape to hold the watercolor paper in place.

Apply Picked Raspberry ink to one corner, next apply Spiced Marmalade, then Squeezed Lemonade and finish with Ripe Persimmon.

Tip* If you get one of the other colors of ink on your ink pad you can use a baby wipe to remove the ink.

 Mist the acrylic block with water to activate the Distress Inks. Turn the acrylic block over so the ink side is face down and press the acrylic block on to the watercolor paper.  Make sure to press on the entire acrylic block for good coverage.  Remove the block. Lightly mist the paper with water to soften the lines and blend the watercolor.

 After the paper is totally dry stamp the Happy Birthday Sentiment from our September Release Set ---- Extra Grand Sentiments Clear Stamps to create this fun quick and easy Birthday Card.

 For the second technique  ( which you can find at timestamp 9:52 -learn how to use Distress Markers to create a watercolor designer paper). 

I am using a rectangle acrylic block and Distress Markers-Mowed Lawn, Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire to create a fun Halloween Background. To create this background I scribbled the markers on the block to apply the ink. 

Then go over the colors and pull them out to the edge of the block.  Next mist the block with water.  Turn the block over so the ink is face down and press the acrylic block on to the paper. Press down firm on the block to achieve a good coverage of ink.

Tip One: If you lift the block up a little and then put it back down a couple of times this will help to blend the inks a little more. 

Tip Two: Place a paper towel or baby wipe where the ink is pooled up and it will lift up the ink.

Scribble some of the Faded Jeans marker off to the side of the paper.  Add water and tap the watercolor brush on top of paper to make small splatter marks.  

Here you will see two different kinds of paint splatters.  Where the paper is still damp or a little wet the paint spatter will feather out and where the paper is dry there will be a crisp paint splatters. I wanted to have more of the crisp ink splatters so I heat set the watercolor with a heat tool and then added more of the ink splatters

To create my Halloween card with this background I used  Samantha Walker's Bootiful Cameos Clear Stamps - on sale for just $10.00 on the JustRite Website.

For the third technique  ( you can find it at timestamp 12:10- Distress Ink with layered water drops - for a Bokeh Look). I will show you how to achieve a really neat effect using the Distress Inks and layers of water drops. 

 

Use a heat tool to heat set the watercolor and dry the paper. Nexxt I am spraying some water in to my hand and then letting the drops of water fall on the paper. Let the water sit on top of the paper for a few seconds. 

Then take a paper towel and blot off the water.  Doing this will also remove some of the water color. 

Add another layer of water drops and blot the paper after a few seconds. Add one more layer of water drops and blot dry.

Having different sized water drops give the paper kind of a Bokeh Look.  We will be talking about Bokeh Techniques and creating Bokeh Cards in future videos.

To complete my card I used the Extra Grand Thinking of You Sentiment from our new September Release Set Extra Grand Sentiments Clear Stamps with a big wide piece of ribbon and some sequins.

For the Fourth Technique - (You can find at timestamp 15:57 - here I show you how to add a watermarked background stamp to your watercolor designer paper using Distress Markers).  I am using CL-02023 Quilted Circles Cling Background Stamp and Distress Inks-Shaded Lilac, Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, and Seedless Preserves.  Add the inks directly to the board.  Add water to the paper --doing this helps the watercolors flow and blend better. Starting with the lightest color apply ink to the paper.

Keep adding the colors until you achieve the look you want.  For this technique it is best to have brite and bold colors.  Once all of the color has been applied heat set the paper with a heat tool.

I am using CL-02023 Quilted Circles Cling Background Stamp.  Mist the stamp with water and then turn it so it's facing down and stamp on to the paper.  Let the water sit for a few seconds. Blot the water off of the paper using a paper towel.  Doing this will remove the water and some of the watercolor too.  This is when you will start to see the stamped background image.

If you have some areas where you can't see the background image simply mist the background stamp and stamp it again.

To create my finished card I stamped the Thank You  Seniment from the Extra Grand Sentiments Clear Stamps and die cut it with Vintage Labels Nine Dies and then added a blue die cut layer using the next die up in the same die set.  Then I added a shear bow and some pearls.  

Let's take another look at the four different watercolor techniques.

Stitched Flowers Vintage Tags

Welcome to Day One of the March Release.  I am so excited to share with you today a
new product category that we have been working on for months behind the scenes at JustRite.  With this release we are offering coordinating SVG digital cut file downloads for our stamps sets. This files include cut files for the stamp images that you would normally need to fussy cut they do not include cut files for sentiments or for images that we have a die for.   You can find all the SVG digital cut file downloads on this tab of the website. And YES we will be adding new SVG's for existing sets to our website as we finish them. 

Each SVG digital cut file download contains 2 cut files.  An Exact Cut File (which will give you the closest cut possible for your electronic cutting machine- with minor tweaks for small or tight places).  Which will allow those of you who are digitally savy to manipulate the files and create your on size offset.  (amount of white space around the stamp image.

Plus an Offset Cut File that will give you a thin white border around your stamp images.  The file names will tell you which file is which.

To use an SVG file with your Silhouette Cameo you will need to purchase the Studio Designer Software.  In the future we will be adding this software item to our site (we are still in the testing phase) but for now you can purchase this upgraded software directly from Silhouette America here.

Silhouette Studio® Designer Edition is the version of the Silhouette software made especially for designers and papercrafters. The Designer Edition includes more features to help designers import their own artwork as well as create new designs for use with Silhouette products.

Once you have finalized your order you will receive an order confirmation email.  Then you will receive a second email titled JustRite Digital Download for Order#.  In this email you will find your digital download link.  You may download your links three times and your down link stays active for 1 year from purchase date.  I recommend downloading your files as soon as you get this email.  

Once you have downloaded your files I recommend that you open each file and save it to a specific folder in your computer - I named my folder JustRite Papercraft Digital Downloads so that I could quickly find my files when I need them.

Amy Tedder, our illustrator has written a great tutorial for you over on her blog today for using our SVG's with her Silhouette Cameo.  You can find her Cameo tutorial here.  Through out the release we will be sharing with you tips for using these files.

And of course Amy designed the perfect set for launching our SVG Digital Files.

Stitched Flowers Vintage Tags Clear Stamps is a 6" x  8" Clear Stamp set with 25 fun SPRING & Summer images.   The weather may not feel like Spring yet but the design teams projects will definitely make you Smile and have hope that Spring is just around the corner.

our Vintage Tag Dies.

 

And with our new coordinating SVG Stitched Flowers Vintage Tags Digital Cut File Download.  In this file you will get cut files for the items shaded in blue.



For this release you will see projects where designers fussy cut images as well as projects where the designers have used their Silhouette Cameos to cut our new SVG files.

Debbie Olson designed this stunning 3-1/8" x 4-3/8" card trio by fussy cutting the flowers in our Stitched Flowers Vintage Tags Clear Stamps and die cutting the Vintage Tag image with our Vintage Tag Dies.  Debbie also used Spellbinders Dies  A2 Curved Matting Basics A and Whimsical Flora M-Bossabilities.

Michele Kovack  altered theses sweet boxes she found in the dollar bins at target using our SVG Exact Cut files with our SVG Stitched Flowers Vintage Tags Digital Cut File Download  and our Stitched Flowers Vintage Tags Clear Stamps to create the flower accents on her adorable boxes.  

 Eva Dobilas  designed this darling card using our  Stitched Flowers Vintage Tags Clear Stamps  fussy cut with Spellbinders Radiant Rectangles.

 Sheri Holt  designed this Sweet Wall Decor piece using the Offset Digital Cut File SVG Stitched Flowers Vintage Tags Digital Cut File Download with our  Stitched Flowers Vintage Tags Clear Stamps.

 Here is a close up view of the frame so you can see what the digital cut looks like using our Offset Cut File.  This type of cut not only gives you a nice white edge around the stamped image.  It also gives you a little wiggle room for stamping the image on the cut image as well.

Kazan Clark created this adorable card with a glossy flower by fussy cutting her stamped image of  Stitched Flowers Vintage Tags Clear Stamps and adding a gloss finish to her flower by adding a craft glaze that dries beautifully over her inked image.

Welcome to day 3 of the JustRite Papercraft January CHA Release.  Today we are introducing a Super Sweet new die from Samatha Walker with a coordinating stamp set that you are just going to love!

 Cupcake Celebrations Clear Stamps is designed to coordinate with Samantha's new Cupcake Stand Dies and with a new die from our February Release called Nested Cloud Dies.
