Welcome to Day Two with Guest Designer Michelle Woerner. Today Michelle is sharing a fun birthday card.
Here's Michelle.....
Every once in awhile I like to shake things up and make a kraft based card. I think stamped images, like the gorgeous flower from the Mum Cling Stamps , really pop on a kraft background!
Instructions:
1. Stamp flower image onto kraft cardstock, color and trim cardstock to the size of your card front, leaving a 1/8” at the top and bottom
2. Trim patterned paper strips and adhere to the top and bottom
3. Using border punch, create scalloped border from lavender cardstock, trim and adhere along the bottom
4. Cover seam with black velvet ribbon.
5. Next, trim kraft cardstock into ribbon strips, adhere a small lavender piece and some velvet ribbon making an accent piece
6. Tie silk ribbon into a double bow and tie button around center; adhere over the top of the accent piece
7. Stamp sentiment on white cardstock, die cut into circle shape, adhere and trim off right edge.
8. Adhere panel to white card base using foam squares.
9. Add rhinestone accents
I love to play around with scraps to make accent features! Here I used some cardstock scraps to make a coordinating banner at the top left corner.
Did you notice my original flower had white gel pen highlights? After finishing my card, I decided I didn’t like them, so I figured a way to cover them up.
I restamped the top of the flower, colored and fussy cut it out large enough to cover all the white accents!
A tip for making your fussy cut edges look uniform and clean is to use a marker and ink the edges. For my cut piece, I used the “middle” shade of yellow. Then adhere it over the flower using foam squares.
