Welcome to Tutorial Tuesday a day late. We apologize for the weather related delay and hope that the weather at Heidi's area of the country improves. In between having no electricity, picking up tree limbs and dealing with a flooding basement Heidi Blankenship was sweet enough to create this fun Video and Written Tutorial for how to create Christmas Cards using our new Christmas Background Stamps and Faber-Castell Gelatos.
But first we need to congratulate Sue D the winner of last week's Tutorial Tuesday Giveaway. Sue D has won - Christmas Stitched with Love, Appliqué Christmas Labels One.
Very cute felt projects. I have only used Stazon on hard surfaces like dominoes and Scrabble tiles. I will definitely be trying this.
Please email me at [email protected] with your shipping information. Please put Tutorial Tuesday as the subject of your email. For your chance to win this week's Tutorial Tuesday Giveaway scroll to the bottom of this post for all the details.
Now on today's Tutorial. If you are reading this blog post from a feedburner email please click on this link to see Heidi's Christmas Card Video Tutorial. You are going to love watching Heidi color with Gelato's these two Christmas Cards.
Now here is the written tutorial from Heidi for how to recreate these two cards.
Instructions:
For my first Christmas Card I stamped the Christmas Postcard Cling Background Stamp image using Memento Espresso Truffle ink. Here I am using Gelatos and Q-tips to blend and color the image.
Starting with the berries I add cherry red using a Q-tip. I go over the image once to lay down the base color and then come back in adding more color for shading.
For the holly leaves I start with butter cream and then I add lime to get the base coat.
Use a Q-tip to blend the colors. Next add spearmint and green tea and blend the colors with a Q-tip. Color the smaller leaves using pistachio.
For the background I used butterscotch and butter cream. After the colors were blended I added white and used my fingers to blend and soften the color.
I used a baby wipe to blend and pull the colors out to the edge of the paper.
I added diamond stickles to the snowflakes and the flourish border.
You can find the complete supply list for both of my cards at the bottom of this post.
To complete my card I used Zutter's Distress-it-All to distress the edges of my postcard and the edges of my kraft mat layer.
To finish off my card I added a velvet glittery bow to the right hand corner of my Christmas Card and two wooden snowflake embellishments.
Here is my completed card.
For my second card I stamped the Ornament Cling Background Stamp using Versa Mark ink on to white cardstock. Then I added white embossing powder and heat set with my heat tool.
To create the color wash I used blueberry, cotton candy, snow cone, and aqua dolce. I scribbled the Gelatos onto an acrylic block. Add water to the Gelatos to active them from a solid to the watercolor.
Next using a large flat brush I applied water to the entire piece of paper. Doing this will allow the colors to flow nicely. Starting with the darkest color apply a color wash to the cardstock.
Then add another color going from the darkest to lightest.
Here I am adding more of the Gelatos to intensify the colors a little.
Once I was done coloring the background I used a baby wipe to remove the color from the embossed areas.
Then I added a fun bow to the top of my card with a snowflake button embellishment.
