Tutorial Tuesday - How to download JustRite Papercraft SVG Cut Files to the Cameo by Heidi Blankenship

Many of you have asked for a video on how to use our SVG Cut Files with the Silhouette Cameo and today Heidi Blankenship has a tutorial and a YouTube Video. 

Heidi will show you every step of the process from placing your order on our website to creating her project using the SVG Files and Spectrum Noir Markers. Please note that the screen shots in the video are a little hard to see so we are also showing them here in this post where they are a little easier to see and follow.

Step 1 - Visit JustRitepapercraft.com.  On the Home Page click on the Shop Products Tab then click on the drop down that says Digital Cut File Downloads.

 

Here you will find our current selection of the digital cut files that are available for purchase. The light blue images indicate which items in each set will have SVG Cut Files.  

Step 2:  Browse through the pages to select the SVG files that you would like to purchase.  Images shaded in blue indicate the items that will have cut files.  

 

 Step 3: Click on the image you would like to purchase

 

 

Here you can see the SVG image and an image of the coordinating stamp sets and the description of the SVG cut file as well as a direct link for the coordinating stamp set.

Step 4:  Click on add to cart in the bottom right hand corner of this page.

 

Step 5:  If you are finished shopping click on check out, if not to the right of the icon that says check out you will find the words continue shopping.  Click on that and you can continue to shop and add the coordinating stamp set to your cart.

 

Step 6: Review your shopping cart and click on your form of payment and complete the required information. Now click on complete my purchase. 

 Step 7: You should now see this screen which will include your order number.

 

Step 8: You will receive a confirmation email indicating that your order has been successful completed. Then you may get an email from Paypal also confirming your order.  Then you will receive a third email with the subject title Download for Order #.  Click on the link in this email to go to your downloads.

 

 

Step 9: Here is what your SVG purchase will look like.  Most of our SVG files come with two files - an exact cut file for items that can be exact cut (please note that die to the intricacy of some of our stamp designs not all images can be an exact cut - we will give you the best available option) and an offset cut file -which has a nice border around the stamped image and gives you a bit of wiggle room for stamping.

Step 10: Next you will want to download your files to a folder in your computer. Right click and save the files. We recommend making a folder for your JustRite SVG Cut files to save all your JustRite files in one place. You can download the files up to 3 times at which point the file will expire.  If you don't complete all three downloads your files will be available through the links in your email for 6 months.

 

 

You can save your SVG's in your picture files or in your document files - just depends on how you organize your files in your computer. 

In order to use our .svg formatted file with your Silhouette Cameo you will need to have purchased the Silhouette Studio Designer Edition Software from Silhouette which allows you to import .svg formatted files into your Silhouette Library.

 Step 10: Open the Silhouette Studio Designer Edition in your Silhouette Software.  Click on the File Tab at the top and then click on Import to My Library.

 
Step 11: Open the folder where you saved the cut files. Then double click on the file you want to import.

 Step 12:  Find the file in My Library and double click on it to open the file. 

Here is what the screen will look like once the file is open.

 

 

Step 13: Next double click on the image and drag it to the top of your paper so don't waste paper.  If you were making several projects with the same cut files you could add the additional cuts to your paper. We will cover how to do that in a later tutorial. 

  

 

Step 14: Next click on the Silhouette Cut Setting (located in the top right).  Select your paper type.  Heidi clicked on cardstock.  This will let you know the speed, thickness and number setting for your blade. Make sure you have your blade set at the correct setting.

Tutorial Tuesday CAS cards using JustRite Background Stamps by Darsie Bruno

For Tutorial Tuesday, JustRite Papercraft designer, Darsie Bruno will be showing you how to make Clean and Simple cards using JustRite’s background cling stamps. In this video, you’ll see how she uses only partial portions of the background stamps which gives more versatility to your background stamps. These quick cards can be created in ten minutes or less, with minimal crafting supplies, yet still have that “wow” factor for your recipient. With a slight change of a background stamp, your cards can be feminine or masculine themed, giving you even more value!

Tutorial Tuesday Distress Ink Stamping Tips and Techniques by Heidi Blankenship

Today I will be sharing with you how I distress my cards and the differnt looks you can get from using three distress inks.  

These are the different types of distressing tools that I use to create my projects and  cards. You can see me use these in my video.

 

Here you can see several ways to add ink to your projects.  The first is an Ink Blusher Sponge.  Then a Fingertip Sponger Dauber. Next is my favorite--a cotton ball.  I like the overall smooth results from the cotton ball and when I am done I just throw it away.  The next one is a Stencil Sponge.  Then the Mesh Dauber--this is a fun one to use--it adds great texture and has more of a grunge look.  The last one is the Color Duster--this is good for adding a soft texture.

Here are the color inks that I used to distress my cards:

 

The first label has the sentiment stamped on it and no distressing.  On the next three labels you can see how adding the different colors of distress ink and layering the inks can change the look of the labels.  For the first label this is a simple distress--add one color of ink to the inside edges of the die template.  Here I used Antique Linen Distress Ink.  For the second label use the Antique Linen ink to ink the inside edges just like the first label and then apply the Vintage Photo ink to the outer edge of the label. This will have more of a vintage look.  For the third label follow the same steps as the second label.  Then add the Walnut Stain ink to the outer edge of the label to create a distressed burnt edge look.  

These are the backgrounds and I did the same distress techniques with the inks that I did on the labels.

Garden Tools Clear Stamps and Quilted Circles Cling Background Stamp

Welcome to Day Three of the JustRite Papercraft Release.  Today the design team is digging in their creative gardens with two new sets designed by Amy Tedder - Garden Tools Clear Stamps and Quilted Circles Cling Background Stamp.  I can't wait for all the snow to melt in my yard so that I can go play in my real garden.  Keeping my fingers crossed that by next week I will be able to at least see my lawn.  Hope today's post brings you all just a little piece of Spring wherever you are.

Quilted Circles Cling Background Stamp works beautifully with our entire stitched collection of stamps.

Debbie Olson designed this awesome card by stamping, embossing on vellum with our Quilted Circles Cling Background Stamp and then coloring the background image with Copic Markers - isn't the effect just stunning.  The bee and sentiment are from our Garden Tools Clear Stamps Set.  Debbie also used  Spellbinders Classic Rectangles Small die template and a sewing machine to create her card.

  

Becca Feeken is sharing today an elegant card using our Quilted Circles Cling Background Stamp with a sentiment from our Home Tweet Home Clear Stamps Set.  To design all the beautiful layers in her cards Becca used JustRite Cupcake Stand Dies, with Spellbinders Majestic Circles,  Gold Ivy, and Corner Flourish Two.


Kristi Schurr designed this sweet card using our Garden Tools Clear Stamps, offset  SVG Garden Tools Digital Cut File Download with our Burlap Cling Background Stamp.

  Michele Kovack designed two cards for today's release.  Her first card is a fun seed themed card using Garden Tools Clear Stamps, SVG Garden Tools Digital Cut File DownloadGarden Tools Clear Stamps and Spectrum Noir Markers.  

 

Michele Kovack's second card was designed using Quilted Circles Cling Background Stamp stamped on a transparency, heat embossed it in white, and colored the back of it with alcohol inks.  Michele created the flowers using coffee filters and Tim Holtz Distress Markers.
