Day Two with Guest Designer Marge Robertson

Thanks for coming by on my second day Guest Designing @ JustRite Papercraft.  I have a fun little birthday card today, which could easily be adapted for a boy or girl depending on color choices and whether you choose to stamp a focal image or use designer paper as I did. Cutting a window in my card added so much more depth, so I chose that option today! As a bonus, this card perfectly fits the current JustRite Friday Challenge #095, so I'll be adding it there.

 

My recipe:

 Step 1: I decided to make this a window card, but if you choose not to, simply center your image on card front, using a centering ruler. Center top to bottom and side to side, place your die (A2 Matting Basics A #2 die -- #1 being smallest) in the center of your card front & die cut;

Step 2: Die cut focal image from DP (A2 Matting Basics A #3); set aside, as we'll adhere it in Step 6;

 Step 3: Die cut 2 largest A2 Locking Loops rectangles in chosen colors; attach smallest to open area using foam tape and largest using 1/8" Scor-Tape;

 Step 4: Die cut banner/bunting and four button shapes from CS using Spellbinders Buntings and Buttons die, then stamp with Buntings and Banners.  Thread buttons with desired fiber, cord, etc. I used crochet thread colored with my ink pad.  Layer banner as shown and add buttons at each end;

 Step 5: Finally, die cut two Spellbinders Ribbon Banners, stamp with desired sentiments and attach sentiment banner @ center bottom with foam tape and buttons.

 Step 6: Adhere your main image to inside, attaching second sentiment banner above focal image.

Day One with Guest Designer Marge Robertson

Good morning.  Today we have another great guest designer - Marge Robertson.  You may recognize Marge's name because she is a frequent participant in the JustRite Friday challenges.  She has also won several times.  You can visit Marge's blog for more great inspiration.

I'm both humbled and thrilled to be asked to Guest Design with JustRite Papercraft this week. I discovered JustRite stamps in 2009 after a friend shared hers. Shortly thereafter I won a JustRite set from Designer Angela Barkhouse, began entering their challenges and "the rest is history"! I feel I've learned so much by participating in JustRite's Friday Challenges through their varied themes. And an added bonus -- I've made many friends too.

I usually make smaller cards, but today I have a large 5 1/2" x 7 3/4" card. While hunting for black CS I discovered a Bazzill scalloped card. A stash of envelopes left over from a wedding invitation kit wherein the bride opted not to use the formal extra inside envelope was perfect for this card. A bit of Scor-Tape will seal its unglued flap -- LOVE recycling! Of course, this card can be made smaller by using a simple black layer in place of the scalloped card. 

 

My recipe:

Step 1: Stamp an image from Celebration Label One and Bracket Borders One on white CS. Die cut all images, layering with foam dots as desired. For contrast, I stamped my sentiment in pink and heat embossed it, then popped up my top two layers and embellished with pearls/gems;

Step 2: Stamp bracket border on 4 3/4" x 7" white CS at the bottom and die cut edge with A2 Bracket Border One die. Attach main focal image near top;

Step 3: Attach a strip of pearls above stamped border. Wanting to carry my pink gems & pearls theme further, I then individually cut pink gems from a small circular embellishment and tucked them in between the pearls -- a bit time-consuming, but I like the result!

Step 4: Fold black scalloped card at 7 3/4", center and attach white card to front of black CS. If like me you have no CS larger than 12", simply cut 2 pieces of white CS each 5 1/2" x 7 11/16" and attach @ top inside along fold of black CS.

Step 5: Lastly, add your ribbon of choice! For a bit of softness, I took white seam binding, colored it with Copic Markers and Colorless Blender until I liked the pink shades, then simply tied it into a double bow around my card. Using a small zip-lock snack bag, rub the marker(s) onto the inside of the baggie, spray with colorless blender, add seam binding, seal and 'smoosh' it around, adding more color/blender as needed until happy with the shading. As noted below, I used three different markers to achieve my color. The alcohol inks/blender air dry quickly too.

Welcome to my final day as guest designer for JustRite Stamps. It has been a thrill to show you how versatile and wonderful JustRite Stamps are. I would like to thank everyone at JustRite for this wonderful opportunity to create with their wonderful products!

My last project is all about the graduate! It’s almost that time of year as the school year winds down. JustRite’s new set, Celebration Labels One and Bracket One, has many options for projects with the graduate in mind.

I made a card and a matching gift bag. The layout is pretty much the same on both, so you can make the card and bag in tandem and mix the sentiments around to your liking.

Here’s how I made the card:

Step 1- Die cut a card base from gold card stock using Spellbinders Labels One die set.

Step 2-Die cut a label out of black card stock using Spellbinders Decorative Labels One. Adhere to card base with foam tape.

Step 3- Die cut label from white card stock using Spellbinders Labels One die set. Emboss and adhere to center of card.

Step 4- Using label stamp from Celebration Labels One and   Bracket One, stamp once on vellum and once on white card stock. Emboss both in gold. Stamp sentiment in center of label stamped on white card stock. Emboss in black. Diecut vellum piece with Spellbinders Label One dies and die cut ONLY center part of the white card stock label with a Spellbinders Standard Circles die.

Step 5- Layer both pieces as shown and adhere to card with foam tape. Add mortar board hat sticker, diploma sticker and star as shown.

For the bag, I layered some black scroll paper over gold card stock and adhered to the bag front. I cut the largest die in the Spellbinders Decorative Labels One set from gold card stock and placed in the middle of the bag front.

I used both label stamps from the Celebration Labels One and   Bracket One set stamping both onto white card stock and embossing both in black.  I embossed the sentiment in gold and die cut it using the matching die from the Antique Tags One custom die set, adhering to the center. I stamped and die cut a border for the bottom edge of the bag using a border stamp from the Celebration Labels One and   Bracket One stamp set. I then die cut it with an A2 Bracket Borders One die.  I wrapped a black satin ribbon around it to conceal the joint and added a gold star to the center of the bow. I randomly added a few gold sequins to the front for a little sparkle.

Day Two with Guest Designer Kristi Schurr

Hi and welcome to my second day as guest designer at JustRite! Today’s project was made for a baby’s room. I went toward the girly side, but it can also be easily adapted for a boy. 

This room decoration was made from a picture frame I found in my local discount store.  It was already white, so I saved a step not having to paint. You can also use a frame you may already have around the house. 

I also made a matching card to give along with the frame.  

 

Here’s how I put together the card:

Step 1- Create card base from white card stock.

Step 2-Die cut bottom edge of the card front with Spellbinder’s dies from the A2 Bracket Borders One set.

Step 3-Adhere pink doily paper to top half of card. Add 2 coordinating strips just above the die cut area.

Step 4- Stamp banners from the Buntings And Banners stamp set and emboss with white embossing powder. Die cut with matching dies from the Buntings And Buttons die set. Layer them together as shown and attach to card with mini clothespins.

Step 5-Adhere felt bunny sticker to doily and adhere to card front.

Step 6- Stamp “baby” sentiment from the Buntings And Banners stamp set and die cut with the flag die from the Vintage Label And Banner die set. Add acrylic flower next to sentiment and adhere flag to the bunny. 

Here’s how the frame came together:

Step 1- Cut a piece of card stock so it fits into the frame. This will be the base.

Step 2- Cut two pieces of patterned paper half the size of the base height wise and adhere to base joining in the middle.

Step 3- Stamp “congrats” label from Celebrations Label One and Bracket one stamp set onto pink card stock. Emboss in white. Die cut with matching Spellbinders Label One die. Adhere to center.

Step 4-Adhere bunny sticker to center of label and attach heart shaped button to center of bunny.

Step 5-Stamp “Welcome Baby” sentiment from the Buntings And Banners stamp set in pink onto pink card stock. Die cut with banner die from the Vintage label And Banners die set. Adhere under bunny label. Add small pearl to each side of banner.

Step 6- Stamp and emboss bunting and banner from the Buntings And Banners stamp set. Emboss in white and die cut with matching dies from the Buntings and Banners die set. Adhere to the top of frame with a small amount of hot glue or other strong glue. Add pearls between buntings.

Step 7- Add crocheted flower to lower right of frame and add a decorative brad to center of flower.

Hi everyone!  I am much honored to be here as a Guest Designer for JustRite Stamps! I discovered JustRite several years ago when I purchased a set of monogram stamps at a stamp show. I was a fan of their stamps then and I love them now. Their sets are so versatile; I find that I reach for them again and again when I am making cards. Today’s card is a shaped butterfly card.

I like to make shaped cards because I think it gives you so many opportunities to do something unique.  Mint green is hot in fashion right now, so I chose that as the basis for the color combination of mint, yellow and white. Here’s how I created this card:

Step 1- Create a butterfly shaped card base. I used a digital cut file and cut it with my electronic cutter. You can also find many different patterns on the internet to print, trace and cut your own base.

Step 2- Cut two more butterflies incrementally smaller, one from mint green card stock and one from yellow patterned paper. Emboss the mint green butterfly with an embossing folder.  Layer them and adhere to the card base.

Step 3- Stamp floral label image from the Sympathy Vintage Labels set, color with markers and die cut with the matching die from the Vintage Labels And Banners Die set. Adhere to center of card.

Step 4- Stamp floral stamp from Sympathy Vintage Labels set, color with markers and die cut with the matching die from the Antique Labels One die set. Adhere with dimensional foam dots to the center of the larger die cut made in step 3.

Step 5- Stamp 'Hugs To You' sentiment from Sympathy Vintage Labels and die cut with banner die from the Vintage Labels And Banners die set. Adhere to center of card with dimensional foam dots. Add a small pearl to each side.

Step 6- Adhere pearls to butterfly antennae.

Step 7- Make two multi-looped bows from seam binding and adhere to top right of the label die cuts.

Step 8-Add flower to the center of bow, adhere a small die cut butterfly on top. Add a small pearl to butterfly.

The window was accented with Spellbinders Classic Scallop and Classic Circles but you can use almost ANY die to create a window. The sentiment and border were stamped on the inside in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Day Three with Guest Designer Holly Simoni

 I can hardly believe it's my last day as a Guest Designer for JustRite Stamps!!  I've had so much fun creating mixed media projects and trying the stamps in new and different ways.  I hope you'll give some of the techniques a try!  So here is my last project, my Imagine Damask Card.

 

I absolutely love this Grand Damask Background Stamp by JustRite Stamps!  It is so very beautiful, and when I saw it, all I wanted to do was showcase that stamp.  It just speaks for itself really.

 

 I inked the stamp with embossing ink and stamped onto ivory card stock.  I sprinkled copper embossing powder over the entire image and shook off the excess.  Then I used my heat gun to melt the embossing powder.  The copper is so shimmery!  I misted with my favorite colors and allowed that to dry (you can dry with a heat gun as well if you like).  Then I trimmed the piece to the size of the stamped embossed image.  I created a simple folded card with a 1/4" border around my Grand Damask Background and adhered that to the front of my card.  I used a Copper Leaf pen to ink the edges of the card as shown.

Next I stamped the word Imagine using the JustRite Winged Vintage Labels Two and Three.  Those words in the stamp set fit just perfectly inside the Spellbinders hobnail bezels.  I die cut the word to fit inside the bezel and then inked the bezel with copper leafing pen and turquoise pen by Faber Castell.  Then I poured in Matte Accents by Ranger Inc. and allowed that to dry.  I tied on the bezel with twine and adhered the bezel with 3D foam squares.

 

 

It's a very simple card to make, but has a bit of a mixed media feel to it.  I hope you enjoyed my projects this week!  I'm so honored to share them with you on the JustRite Stamps blog!
