This week's JustRite Friday Challenge #058 grand prize is sponsored by Spellbinders! For this week’s challenge, we want to see your inexpensive/frugal gift ideas (anything but a card), using something you have recycled and reused from around your house. We'd like to see you repurpose a 3D item and turn it into a fabulous gift or gift packaging, using your JustRite stamps! Some ideas to get you started:
1. Cover a tin can (vegetable or soup) and fill it with sharpened pencils and give to your child's teacher (or teacher friend/relative) so s/he has extras on hand to lend; or give to an administrative assistant for her desk.
2. Fill a recycled jar with candies or flowers and decorate it to cheer someone's day.
3. Take that pretty gift box you saved from Valentine's Day or Easter or maybe an egg carton, and recover it or somehow remake it into something new and different -- perhaps a Halloween candy container, Thanksgiving table decoration, or Christmas gift box.
We want to see what you can do with your recycled 3D items, so get creative and show us something besides a card this week, that also showcases JustRite stamps!
The grand prize for this challenge, sponsored by Spellbinders, is this set of Shapeabilities® Banner Basics Two and Wonky Rectangles Nestabilities (a $45 retail value!):
THREE honorable mention winners will each receive a Spellbinders OR JustRite Custom Die (manufactured by Spellbinders) set of their choice (currently in stock in JustRite's web store), valued at $24.99 or less!
Here’s my recycled spice jar, jazzed up and made pretty for gift giving to a friend who loves gourmet French cooking (front and back of jar):
I kept seeing a gourmet South of France blend of spices mentioned in some recipes called Herbes de Provence, but could never find the blend in my local grocery store. Online shopping turned up some results, but most were quite expensive. Since I already had most of the individual spices in the blend, I Googled how to create my own and found MANY mixture recipes! I created my own blend and transferred the spices to this nice, large 3oz. recycled spice jar (Target's Archer Farms brand, in case you are wondering!) -- I like its simple square shape, perfect for altering!
And what more perfect stamp set is there for a French blend of spices than JustRite's new cling stamp sets,Bon Voyage and Greetings From Paris!
For the front label, I used the label stamp from Bon Voyage that coordinates with Spellbinders Labels Six Nestabilities die, stamped it with Memento Sweet Plum ink and then colored the label with Copic G21 & V12. I used JustRite's Original Times New Roman 15-pt font to spell out the herb blend name, stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa ink. Next, I airbrushed Copic Y21 in the center of the label. Finally, I stamped, colored, and cut out the separate "100% Royal Quality" stamp from this set and adhered it to the lower portion of the label.
The back label (from the Greetings From Paris cling stamps set, which coordinates with Spellbinders Labels Four Nestabilities dies) was stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and then Copic airbrushed with G21, V15 and Y21.
Twine was wrapped around the bottle and the sides each decorated.
(Left photo below): The Eiffel Tower from Bon Voyage was stamped and cut out, then adhered underneath the twine.
(Right photo above): Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Accent die cut was colored with Copic markers and adhered to the bottle.
The lid was also wrapped with twine and then I stamped a collage of stamps mainly from Greetings from Paris and then die cut it with Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Circle Nestabilities.
