Introducing Hugs to You

Welcome to more previews of our March Release - You will love our new Oval Designs now with a rectangular center.  Hugs to You is all about creating elegant cards in a matter of minutes.  These oval designs can be die cut in a traditional oval Nestabilities or die cut with Spellbinders Labels Eighteen!!  Hugs to You is in stock and shipping!

To create the background of my card I used the the A2 Large Retro Circle Embossing Folder from Sizzix's Christmas Set 6.  Then I gentle applied Danube Blue Ink with a Jumbo Dauber to the embossed surface to make the embossed design pop.  I also added a touch of Danube Blue to my Prima white roses and the embossed edges of the Labels Eighteen die cut to give my card the feel of Delft China.

Introducing Song in my Heart

Thanks for stopping by today!!  Today we are introducing a new JustRite Original Set called Song in My Heart. Our entire March Release is in stock and will begin shipping on February 28th!!  Wait til you see all the wonderful projects and cards the design team has created with this beautiful set!! 

  

What I love about both the oval sentiment sets in our March Release is how easy it is to create beuatiful cards in just a matter of minutes.  I used my Memento Markers direct to rubber, to color the sentiment in Rosebud and the border in Rhubarb Stalk. The image was diecut with Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Five  (love how it frames our oval image so nicely). Then I added a mat layer with Labels Twenty One  to accentuate the vintage label look.

 

To get the beautiful glow in my card I applied Desert Sand to the edges of the card with a Jumbo Dauber - working in a circle motion toward the sentiment. Then I added a hint of Rosebud with my Jumbo Dauber which gives the card it's warm glow.

I used a paper towel to dry off some of the diet coke and then set them aside to dry wondering if I had ruined them.  And much to my happy surprise this is what happened to my white roses-- Very Shabby Chic - don't you think??

Introducing JustRite Original Heart to Heart

Today we are debuting a new configuration of stamp for our large oval stamper.  It's an oval image with a super wide border with a rectangular center!!  You will love the simple elegance of the design of Heart to Heart.

For my card today I stamped the sentiment with Rosebud and die cut it using one of the new Fancy Tags from Fancy Tags Two.  Layered it on the new wide oval border which I die cut with the new Labels Eighteen (Yes, I am in love with this new die!!). 

 

The stamps are designed so that you can use some of the smaller sentiments from our Nested Sentiment Sets with these new wide borders.

Introducing JustRite Vintage Oval Labels Cling Set

Today I am very excited to reveal our first March Release Cling set - "Vintage Oval Labels". This set has two Vintage Oval Label Frames.  The Large Frame is designed to coordinate with  all your JustRite 2 1/4" x 3 1/16" Oval Centers and Spellbinders Labels Thirteen (S4-248) and the small frame is designed to coordinate with all your Happy Everything Sentiments and outside frame coordinates with Spellbinders Labels Six (S4-230) and the inside oval coordinates with Spellbinders Petitie Oval large (S4-138).   You will love the simple elgance of this set.  

For my first card I used Memento Markers and the Direct to Rubber Technique (Our Friday Challenge Technique) which allowed me to use a Danube Blue Marker to quickly color the frame and a Tuxedo Black Marker to color the "Best Friends Forever" Sentiment. This technique allows you to stamp your image once while giving a multicolored impression.  

I die cut the image with Labels Six and matted the image with Labels Twenty One. Then I distresssed the image using Memento Desert Sand and a Jumbo Dauber to give it a vintage feel.

JustRite March Release -Introducing My Rainbow

Our March Release has arrived in our warehouse early and we couldn't wait to share it with you!!  For the next 7 business days we have a new stamp set or die to share with you each day.  This month our JustRite Original Release focuses on one of your favorite size stampers -2 1/4" x 3 1/16"  Oval Stamper with 4 new oval stamps. Today we are introducing My Rainbow - with 4 oval sentiments.

 

 

You will find this set a great go to set for encouragement cards or use the "Thank You for being my Rainbow an a cloudy day" as a loving sentiment for the important people in your life!! 

What I love about this set is how easy it is to make a stunning card in just a matter of minutes.  I absolutely love the Life sentiment  in this set- something about it just tugs at my heart strings and I wanted it to make it the predominant focal point of the card. I didn't want the designer paper to distract from the sentiment, so I chose to frame the sentiment with elegant elements.

 

This card appears in our new release catalog and we have already received tons of emails and calls asking what I used to frame the sentiment. I applied two colors of ink to my stamp using the direct to rubber technique -- Rhubarb Stalk for the Border element and Rosebud for the center sentiment using Memento Markers - this allowed me to stamp the image only once by applying two colors of ink to my image. (this technique is part of our current Friday Challenge- hope you can come out and play as we have some fab prizes- read about it here). 

To frame my sentiment I die cut the stamped image with Labels Eighteen, then I die cut the Heart Frame Tag  from the new Fancy Tags Two Spellbinders dies.  Then I cut the diecut in half and interlocked the tag elements at the top and bottom of my framed image. Since I wanted a design element that would really make my card sing but not take away from my focal point, I chose this great Christmas A2 Embossing Border from Sizzix that I thought would frame the oval Sentiment beautifully. The Christmas tree element of the flourish is a tiny element that I could easily hide under my oval sentiment.    I used the  A2  Embossing border element twice on my card front to frame my sentiment.  To make the embossed design elements of the Christmas w/flourishes border really pop I used a Jumbo Sponge Dauber to gently apply Rosebud ink on the outer edges of my embossed card base.

JustRite Friday Challenge 049 - Technique: Direct to Rubber

Before we get started with our Friday Challenge, we wanted to make another new product announcement . . . JustRite is now carrying Tsukineko's fabulous full range of 24 Memento markers! 

You can find them listed in our web store HERE.  These wonderful markers come in all the same great Memento water-based dye ink colors as the ink pads and have dual tips on each marker -- brush tip for coloring and bullet tip for fine details and writing.

Today's technique challenge is Direct To Rubber, which is the act of getting more than one color onto your rubber stamp and thereby creating a multi-colored stamped image in only one stamping.  This can be accomplished in a few different ways, the first of which is with these fabulous Memento markers!

 

Simply color different parts of the rubber stamp with different marker colors.  Here, I used Rose Bud and Grape Jelly Memento Markers to color the swirly large oval label in this brand new Heart to Heart JustRite Original stamp set (this set just arrived in our warehouse, we'll be formally introducing it next Wednesday, and it will begin shipping next week!):

 

Since coloring a whole rubber stamp can take just a little while, the first of your coloring may begin to dry and not stamp a good image.  So after coloring the stamp with the marker colors of your choice, you can either "huff" (blow your breath onto the marker, as if you were trying to fog up a mirror) to rewet the ink OR you can VERY lightly mist a little water onto the stamp -- Do this from a good 12-inch or more distance with a very fine mist sprayer and I find spraying from further away, into the air and then moving your stamp through the water spray in the air, works well.  Too much water will cause the ink to run and smear when you stamp it.  On the stammped image above, I huffed, and on the stamped image below, I misted it with water:

 

Another way to achieve a multi-colored image Direct To Rubber is with the Rock-N-Roll technique:

 

Simply ink your stamp with one color of ink and then with another color of ink pad, place the edge of the stamp onto the ink pad and "rock" just the edges of your stamp around the surface of the ink pad.  The result will be something like this:

More Beautiful Day Coloring

As promised, today we have another tutorial on coloring floral images from our Beautiful Day large oval stamp set.  Design team member, Sharon Harnist, shares how to creatively use Copic markers to color "white" images.  Since Copic doesn't make a white marker (the highly-pigmented ink would be too thick to flow through the marker tips), Sharon shares her tips for coloring things white with Copic markers:

I used the Snowdrop and Lily images from this stamp set (click on images for a larger view):

In my two samples above, both stamped with Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Copic’s X-Press It Blending Card, I used two different ways to color objects white. The first method is to start with a very pale (quad 0) marker color as a base coat on the flowers and then add the deeper shades of color to the centers of the flowers. Here, I used R0000, R81, R83 and R85 to make these Lilies resemble my favorite Star Gazers:

(Greens used were YG03 & YG17). You can also use the Colorless Blender marker to remove color from the outer edges of the flowers, to make them appear even whiter. But I find starting with the R0000 gives a better, less streaky blend than the Colorless Blender:

The second method is to add shading to your white object -- after all, even white things have shadows to them, just like colors do! Shading will make the white of your object "pop" and appear even whiter!

 

In my second example above, I used C1 and C3 to shade the flowers:

If I hadn't added any shading to the white flowers, this is what they would have looked like:

A bit dull & lifeless, right?!!  Another tip to coloring white things is to place as much color around the white object(s) as possible -- this will give more life to your project. As you can see in my second example, there are a lot of greens around the white flowers (YG03, YG17, YG63), the pink bow (R81, R83, R85), and I airbrushed the background of the image with Copic Y32. All these things draw your eye to the white flowers and make them the center of attention!

If you have done all of your coloring and then realize you need some white highlights, but forgot to allow for them, or removing color with the Colorless Blender isn't an option, Copic does make an Opaque White "paint" (more like a thick ink, shown in the photo above) that can be applied to your artwork.  Here's a closeup of how I used it on the centers of these Crocus from The Greatest Joy:
