Today I am using Spellbinders S4-285 Nested Mittens die templates – they coordinate perfectly with the mitten stamp images in JustRite Stampers’ Sparky & Friends and Sparky the Snowman CLING stamp sets! I made a magnetic Holiday Countdown Calendar, that will stick to the fridge (or hang on the wall, if you prefer), to help the kiddos count down the days until Christmas!
JustRite's largest mitten stamp (at the top of my calendar) from our Sparky the Snowman stamp set, coordinates perfectly with Spellbinders middle sized open mitten die. I stamped it with Rich Cocoa ink, colored the top knitted wristband with Copic markers, and paper pieced the middle section:
I cut out the stamped mitten and then layered it onto patterned paper that was die cut with the mitten die. The snowflake stamp on the mitten was hand-stitched with red thread:
The December month sign was made with JustRite's Calendar stamp set and snowflakes from Sparky The Snowman cling stamp set. It was die cut with JustRite's Custom Die Set, Nested Sentiment Dies, co-branded by Spellbinders!
Sparky The Snowman was stamped and colored with JustRite's custom selection of Copic markers. To keep track of the date, I stamped JustRite's smaller mitten stamp from Sparky & Friends cling stamp set, omitting the center sentiment and adding a small snowflake from the same set. I hand cut the mitten stamp and then layered patterned paper behind it that was die cut with Spellbinders smallest open mitten die.
You can either adhere a strong magnet to the back of the small mitten, so it can be moved from date to date OR if you will hang the calendar, you can use repositionable adhesive so the mitten can be moved. The Merry Christmas and Jingle Bells sentiments are both stamps from the Sparky & Friends stamp set.
The calendar is a free download I created and is available HERE. It was computer printed onto lightweight 8.5" x 11" ivory cardstock (so the magnetic mitten will be still be able to hold through it) and then decorated at the top and bottom with patterned papers die cut with Spellbinders Snowflake Border die. Magnets can be placed on the back of the cardstock so it will hang on the fridge.
I hope you'll enjoy making one of these countdown calendars for yourself, friends or family this holiday season!
