We are thrilled to have Mona Pendleton guest designing for us this week! You probably recognize Mona's name as a winner from our JustRite Friday Challenges -- her creations are always gorgeous! Mona blogs over at Cupcake's Creations, where you can find a daily dose of fabulous inspiration! Here's a little more about Mona:
1. Tell us where you live: I currently live in Phoenix, AZ.
2. Tell us about your family: My family consists of my dear husband, Scott who not only supports all my wild paper crafting ideas but provides 24/7 tech support for my blog :) I have been blessed with four wonderful children: a 22 year old son, a 20 year old daughter, a 15 year old step-son and a 13 year old step-daughter. I can’t forget my two four legged 5 year old fur babies: Gretchen and Griffin, both West Highland Terriers.
3. Tell us how long you have been stamping: I began stamping approximately 7 years ago. I was selling homemade scrapbooks at a local hospital’s Cancer Center fundraiser where I met a women selling stamps & supplies. I have had a healthy addiction ever since!
5. Tell us what is your must have stamping tool: My most favorite stamping tool that I can not live without are my Spellbinders die templates!
6. Tell us how long have you been blogging: I discovered the world of blogging accidentally about a 1 1/2 years ago when browsing around a manufacturer’s web store only to find out they had this thing called a “Design Team”. Curiosity got the best of me and with a few clicks of the computer mouse I discovered the Blogosphere!
7. Tell us who is currently your favorite paper company: With so many awesome paper companies offering fabulous designs it is difficult to narrow down to just one, I love them all! Looking at my current collection, I would have to say my favorite paper company is My Mind’s Eye. They always have a gorgeous variety of papers for every season.
8. Tell us what are you currently addicted to: I am currently addicted to my sewing machine. I sew on every card whether using the sewing machine or when traveling, by hand. I love the little extra homespun touch that it seems to add to my projects plus it is better than any adhesive on the market!
9. Tell us your favorite paper crafting season and why: My favorite paper crafting season is Christmas time. I enjoy all the various styles, colors and textures of products that all the paper crafting companies have to offer during the Holiday Season and who doesn’t love to get a special greeting card? It gives me an excuse to purchase so many amazing supplies to create cards and gifts for my family, friends and co-workers!
Here's Mona's gorgeous card for today:
"I made this card featuring the darling Hummingbird image from Back Yard Birds stamp set paired with the Rebirth of Spring sentiment from Nature’s Nested Sentiments stamp set."
After inking up the Hummingbird image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, using a combination of Copic Markers: Lily White, Dim Green, Frost Blue, Tender Pink, Pale Grape, Tea Rose, Cool Gray, Cadmium Yellow, Lime Green, Grayish Olive, Pink, Rose Mist, Warm Gray No 1, Yellowish Skin Pink, Deep Magenta, Mustard, I colored the image. Using a Spellbinders Classic Ovals SM die template to cut/emboss the image then adhered it to a label made using a Labels Eleven die template.
Absolutely stunning, Mona -- your wonderful coloring and beautiful accents bring the hummingbird to life! You can find Mona's other projects here on Day 2 and Day 3!
