Today's JustRite Friday Challenge #036 is to use this color combination -- dark red, ivory & black, with the added twist of creating your own handmade embellishment for your project! This can be a die cut or crocheted flower/shape, handmade felt embellishment, decorated paperclip or clothespin to add to your project, or any other type of embellishment!
I've also given you the Copic color references, in case you would like to use those in your project (but they are not a requirement of the challenge) --R29 Lipstick Red (found in our Red Quad), E50 Egg Shell (found in our Cream Trio) & 100 Black (found in our Toner Gray Quad).
Here's my sample that inspired this color combo:
This card was over on my personal blog for our first 12 Weeks of Christmas Blog Hops last week. You can find all the details of my card here. I used our Hearts Come Home and Christmas Nested Sentiments sets. I created the flower embellishment with a Sizzix 3D Flower die and added a pearl and ribbon leaves to it.
These JustRite design team members have fabulous samples for you today -- please head over to their blogs (by clicking on their hyperlinked names) to find the full details of their cards, including their wonderful handmade embellishments!
Angela Barkhouse has a sneak peek of our new Give Thanks Nested Frames set. We'll be formally introducing this set next Tuesday, so be sure to check back for that! Angela die cut her own flower, adding a pearl, leaves and ribbon to it, to accent her elegant Autumn card. I love all the pretty layers the frames create!
Stephanie Kraft also used our new Give Thanks Nested Frames, along with an ivory hand crocheted flower, making her predominantly ivory Thanksgiving card appear lighter and fresher than I thought this color combo was capable of!
Michele Kovack used our Nature Nested Sentiments and Baroque Frames to create her beautiful Fall card. She created her own leaf accent by die cutting and embellishing it with Stickles, and a twine tied button:
This week's grand prize winner will receive our new Myriad Pro Font in both the 95-point AND 50-point upper & lowercase sets AND a coordinating Clear Horizontal Stamper set!
Honorable Mentions will each receive the Myriad Pro 50-point upper & lowercase font (shown in the photo above, lower left, and here's what each letter in the sets look like):
CHALLENGE RULES:
You will need to use JustRite products for your project and upload it to an online blog, gallery or photo hosting website. You may make and enter as many different projects as you'd like for our challenges. (Please see our blog post HERE for important information about our gallery on Flickr, how to upload to it, and another opportunity to win some JustRite products!).
You will then need to link to your project back here on our blog post, using the linking system on this challenge post. Please make certain your link is directly to your project, not just your general blog home page or overall photo gallery, so we can find it easily. (Links that are spam, commercial in content, or are not linked properly/directly to your project will be deleted). If you choose to upload your project to www.Splitcoaststampers.com OR our Flickr gallery, please use the weekly challenge code (example: JRC_036 <== that's an underscore between the letters and numbers) in the keyword section of the Splitcoast project upload page or the tag section of the Flickr gallery.
You will have until next Thursday, September 23 at 9am Central to make your project and enter a link to it below. Then the winners will be chosen and announced a little later that day here on the JustRite Inspiration Blog. By entering our challenges, you grant JustRite Stampers permission to use your artwork here on our blog as well as our company website gallery (with designer credit given and your blog post or gallery linked) or any possible advertising.
We can't wait to see how you use this color combination and the handmade embellishements on your projects!
