Before we get started with today's Friday Challenge information, we have a few announcements. You may have noticed the JustRite design team uses a lot of Tsukineko's Memento ink on their projects, especially if they are coloring JustRite images with Copic markers.
You may wonder why we choose Memento inks. The answer is simple -- it is the perfect chemical mix of stamping products. One tip for getting great stamping results for your projects is understanding the chemistry of the inks, markers and papers you are using. Most inks contain a small amount of alcohol in their chemical make up. Since Copic markers are alcohol based, many of the inks you own in your craft room are not compatible with Copic markers (some may work if you heat set them). We love Memento ink because the chemical formulation of Memento inks contains no alcohol. Which means if you color your image stamped with Memento, Copic markers will not smear the lines in your stamped image.
Our favorite coloring supply recipe is Memento ink, Copic markers, combined with Neenah Classic Crest Paper (Solar White or Natural White) or with Prism/Bazzill Simply Smooth (Ivory or White paper). And you can click over to my personal blog, PaperFections, to find out more about some fabulous new cardstock Copic is offering that also works wonderfully with Copics!
Many consumers have mention that they have been having difficulty finding these inks locally. You asked, we listened ... and you can now purchase the entire collection of full-sized Tsukineko Memento pads on the JustRite website -- all 24 colors! You can find them under the Stamp Pad category on our website HERE!
Also, more about the Caardvarks challenge JustRite is sponsoring this week ... the prize package is 5, yes FIVE, JustRite Christmas stamp sets of the winner's choice PLUS the coordinating blocks! So head on over to Caardvarks to see all the details to enter their challenge!
Now, on to today's JustRite Friday Challenge #030 --you will use this photo (courtesy of Pottery Barn's new 2010 Fall collection, in case you are interested!) as inspiration for your project:
You may use the photo for inspiration of a color theme or combo, general overall feeling or even as layout inspiration. I chose the large light blue, rose and green comforter on the lower left of the photo as color inspiration for my card, with cream accents of the cream quilt, and JustRite's new 3-1/4" Christmas Ornament stamp set (this stamp set is currently shipping and we'll be formally introducing it here on the blog Monday!):
I stamped the ornament image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored it with the Copic markers listed below. The ornament is cut out and popped up on foam tape over the paper doilies and printed paper panel.
The "Season's Greetings" sentiment from our new Christmas Nested Sentiments was stamped with Memento Summer Sky ink on cream cardstock and die cut with a Spellbinders Double-Ended tag die. The embossed edge of the tag die cut was colored with Copic marker B000 and crystals added to accent it.
JustRite design team member, Barb Schram, also has some bright & cheerful inspiration for you today:
You can find the full details of Barb's card at her blog, Explore, Dream, Discover.
And design team member, Stephanie Kraft, has this darling Groovy Snowman inspiration to share:
This week's challenge winner will receive 10 full sized Memento ink pad colors of their choice! Honorable Mentions will each receive 3 Memento ink pad colors of their choice!
CHALLENGE RULES:
You will need to use JustRite products for your project and upload it to an online blog, gallery or photo hosting website. (Please see our blog post HERE for important information about our gallery on Flickr, how to upload to it, and another opportunity to win some JustRite products!).
You will then need to link to your project back here on our blog post, using the linking system on this challenge post. Please make certain your link is directly to your project, not just your general blog home page or overall photo gallery, so we can find it easily. (Links that are spam, commercial in content, or are not linked properly/directly to your project will be deleted). If you choose to upload your project to www.Splitcoaststampers.com OR our Flickr gallery, please use the weekly challenge code (example: JRC_030 <== that's an underscore between the letters and numbers) in the keyword section of the Splitcoast project upload page or the Tag section of the Flickr gallery.
You will have until next Thursday, August 12 at 9am Central to make your project and enter a link to it below. Then the winners will be chosen and announced a little later that day here on the JustRite Inspiration Blog. By entering our challenges, you grant JustRite Stampers permission to use your artwork here on our blog as well as our company website gallery (with designer credit given and your blog post or gallery linked) or any possible advertising.
We can't wait to see your inspiration projects!
