This week's Tuesday Tutorial is hosted by JustRite design team member, Sharon Harnist, who is also on the Copic design team and is a Regional Copic Certification Instructor! In this tutorial, Sharon will show you how she colored the Hydrangeas from our Plant A Little Love stamp set with Copic markers on this card (the card and full details were originally posted here):
Let's get started! (Click on any photo, to view it larger):
(Above left photo): First, give the entire flower a base coat of your lightest color, BV31 -- this will "prime" your paper and help all the other colors blend better. Next, use BV02, to color some of the small flowers darker. (Above right photo): Color a few more small flowers with your next darkest color, BV13, and also add it to the centers of all the small flowers.
(Above left photo): Next, color a few of the small flowers and space in between the small flowers, green with G21. This will help give some depth of color to your overall flower and make the individual violet flowers stand out! (Above right photo): Give the leaves a base coat of light green, G20.
(Above left photo): Next, color the lower portions of the leaves with a little darker G21, leaving the tops of the leaves (where they would naturally be more touched by the sun) lighter. Blend the two greens together, using the lightest G20 marker. (Above right photo): Add darker G24 to the leaf veining and to the very bottoms of the leaves, and right up under the flowers, where darkest shadows would naturally occur.
(Above left photo): Finally, use your darkest green, G29, to give more definition to the leaf veins. Blend with G21, if necessary, to remove too harsh of a line. (Above right photo): All the Copic marker colors used for this flower.
There you have it -- simple and easy Hydrangeas! Other color combinations that would work well for the flower colors are:
Peach: R11, R21, R22. Rose: R81, R83, R85. Golden Yellow: YR20, YR21, YR23.
