Welcome to another JustRite Friday Challenge ... just in time to help keep you occupied over the long holiday weekend! This week's challenge, sponsored by one of our favorite marker companies, Copic, is to use your JustRite ROUND stamps with this inspiration sketch:
If you don't have any of our round stamps, then please feel free to use whatever JustRite stamps you do have -- most of our stamp images will fit onto a round shape! So you could think outside the box and use some of our square stamper images, but just put them on a round shape.
The idea here is to help get you thinking about using some different shapes you may not otherwise use AND to see examples of how other people might get creative in layering their round images, which can only help grow YOUR creativity!
We'll be making our sketches a regular part of our Friday Challenges, covering a lot of different shapes and elements, so we hope you'll look forward to them! We will house all the sketches in a special photo album over in our sidebar, for quick & easy future reference.
I love designing with sketches, as it's one-third of your whole project already thought out for you! All you have to do is choose a stamp set and paper and you are ready to create! Here's my example using this sketch (another sneak peek project from the new 2010 JustRite Catalog & Idea Book!):
I went the more traditional route and used our 2-3/8" round Stitched With Love stamp set, die cut with Spellbinders Classic Circle Nestabilities (both the border and the center) and framed them with Big Scalloped Circle Nestabilities.
I stamped and die cut the center image separately from the border, masked off the heart image and airbrushed Copic R21 marker over it. Then I colored the heart with Copic R22, R24 & R29. Silver Copic Atyou Spica Glitter Pen was used to color the needle, to help make it a realistic! A real button was stitched onto the "O" in LOVE. The center was popped up on foam tape over the die cut border.
CHALLENGE RULES:
You will need to use JustRite products for your project and upload it to an online blog, gallery or photo hosting website. (Please see our blog post HERE for important information about our gallery on Flickr, how to upload to it, and another opportunity to win some JustRite products!).
You will then need to link to your project back here on our blog post, using the linking system on this challenge post. Please make certain your link is directly to your project, not just your general blog home page or overall photo gallery, so we can find it easily. (Links that are spam, commercial in content, or are not linked properly/directly to your project will be deleted). If you choose to upload your project to www.Splitcoaststampers.com OR our Flickr gallery, please use the weekly challenge code (example: JRC_020 <== that's an underscore between the letters and numbers) in the keyword section of the Splitcoast project upload page or the Tag section of the Flickr gallery.
You will have until next Thursday, June 3rd at 9am Central to make your project and enter a link to it below. Then the winners will be chosen and announced a little later that day here on the JustRite Inspiration Blog. By entering our challenges, you grant JustRite Stampers permission to use your artwork here on our blog as well as any possible advertising.
This week's challenge winner will receive a set of 12 Copic Ciao markers, similar to these (colors may vary):
Honorable Mention winners will each receive one stamp set of their choice and a new clear horizontal block from next week's release! We can't wait to see all your sketch cards! You can see some samples from our design team, using this sketch, in the first few linked entries below (they are ineligible for prizes) -- we hope you'll check those out!
