JustRite Friday Challenge 006: Beautiful Botanics

Welcome to another JustRite Friday Challenge!  We're trying to hurry Spring along so this time, challenge #006 is Beautiful Botanics . . . we want to see what you create with any of our floral stamps!  For easy reference, you can find some kind of floral images in these JustRite stamp sets:

1-5/8" Round - Favorite Occasions
2” Round - Wood Stamper Rd w/bonus flower center & 15-pt Times New Roman font
Small Oval - Wood Stamper Oval w/bonus Pansy center & 15-pt Special Occasions Font
Large Oval - Beautiful Blossoms, Breath of Spring, Thinking of You, Autumn Blessings
3-1/4" Round - My Garden, Plant A Little Love, Friendship Borders & Centers

Here's my sample:

 

My card today uses the My Garden 3-1/4" round set.  I adore this daisy, so I used it on the background of my card base, stamped lightly in Memento Desert Sand ink.  Then I used Memento Rich Cocoa ink to stamp the daisy twice onto gold polka dot paper.  I cut out two different layers of petals and stacked them together on foam tape, to give the flower more dimension:

 
  
I used a few Copic markers to lightly add color to the patterned paper daisy and then accented the daisy center with Copic Chocolate Spica Glitter Pen!  The sentiment border was die cut with Spellbinders Classic & Scalloped Circle Nestabilities and popped up on foam tape over a piece of patterned paper I cut with Spellbinders' Polka Dot Frame.

 
  
Ribbon is looped through each side of the frame and tied up with a bow.  We hope you'll have fun creating some pretty flowers this week!

Day 3 with Keri Sereika

I was in my local scrapbook store last weekend and we were talking about the trend of using corrugated cardboard on projects.  I don’t really ever use it and was laughing that someone would pay for some peeled cardboard!!  I giggled and said to the LSS owner, “I would just spray a cardboard box with a bit of water and peel it; then you can paint and die cut it, whatever you want I guess!”  Well then I got home and could not stop thinking about it…so I got busy creating the mat layer for my main image.  I love this beautiful botanical image from Plant A Little Love. 

Today I found out you can stamp using Ranger’s Distress Inks and they don’t smear when using Copic markers…a good tip for anyone who uses Copics!  I stamped my image using Frayed Burlap and then colored it using Copic markers.

Well I certainly have enjoyed guest blogging for JustRite again and I do hope you have enjoyed this week’s creations!!  Enjoy ~ Keri

Day 2 with Keri Sereika

Today I thought it would be fun to use some of the newest January/February JustRite releases.  I decided on Joyful Hearts because I love the sentiments and all of the beautiful oval borders. 

 

Notice on the bag how I used JUST the border?  Remember, you have options with JustRite's unique interchangeable stamps! 

For the dual color of the main image and sentiment on the card I used my stamp positioner to first stamp the border using Moss Green Fluid Chalk ink.  Then I took off the border and inked up the sentiment with Dark Brown Fluid Chalk ink, positioned it right where I wanted it, and stamped with confidence! I hope you enjoy these fun projects!

Hi All, I am thrilled to be back guest blogging for JustRite Stampers this week!  One of the things that I think of first when I think of JustRite is magnificent monograms.  When I was first introduced to JustRite, it was their oodles of Font Sets and the Monogram Stamper Kits that caught my eye.  Now with the introduction of all of the beautiful new image stamps like the newest releases of the botanical line, I realized how I have neglected my Fonts & Frames and Borders!!!  So I decided to start the week off with a monogrammed card to remind everyone, THERE ARE TONS OF FUN FONTS that are BEGGING to be used!  So get ‘em out and let’s see what you do with a monogram!  I’d love it if you would take some time to make your own and comment here with the link!

Introducing our New Design Team Member - Angela Barkhouse

Today we are very excited to formally introduce Angela Barkhouse as an "Official" design team member.

You may have noticed that  Angela's name has been on our Design Team blog roll for several weeks, we are just a little tardy in making the Official Announcement.  Angela has been an intregal part of JustRite working behind the scenes at JustRite for almost 2 years helping us coordinate our retail store education program and our JustRite Gallery.  Please help us welcome her to our Blog Team!!

Angela is an avid scrapbooker who we have converted to a cardmaker!! Today she has a awesome St. Patrick's Day Centerpiece to share. She created it using her Cricut and her JustRite Stamps.

 You will need to click through to Angela's Blog - Snippets of Paper to see the entire centepiece including a very cool pot of gold.  This would be such a fun project to create with your kids.  This adorable centerpiece will give you flashbacks to playing with paper dolls! (guess that shows my age- YIKES!)  

1. Tell us where you live.  I live (and always have) in Peru, Maine - a small town in the Western Mountains of Maine.  My grandmother lives in the house next door to me and my parents live a short distance from me in the other direction.  It is really nice having family close by to help out when needed.

2. Tell us about your family.  I have been happily married for almost 13 years to my wonderful husband Mike.  He is my biggest enabler!  He is always willing to give me his opinions/suggestions on my projects.  We have two daughters - Heather just turned 21 years old and is a Junior in college.  Emily is almost 10 years old and is in the 4th grade.

 

3. Tell us how long you have been stamping.  I have only been stamping for about 1 1/2 years.  I have never considered myself a stamper until I started using JustRite Stamps.  I have always been "crafty" - starting with Counted Cross Stitch, then Plastic Canvas, scrapbooking and now cardmaking.

 

4. Tell us where you do your stamping. I originally had my studio in our basement.  Then when my oldest daughter went to college, I took over her bedroom.  I tell her that I am "sharing" it with her even though the only thing left in there is her bed.

 

5. Tell us what is your must have stamping tool.  I guess it has to be my Spellbinders Dies.  These go so well with the JustRite Stamps.  I use them on almost every project that I do.

 

6. Tell us how long have you been blogging.  Although I have been surfing blogs for several years, I did not start my own blog until July, 2009.  It is a lot of work but I am having so much fun.  It is a great incentive booster to be creative.

  

7. Tell us who is currently your favorite paper company. These days, I am feeling more than a little paper deprived since most of the scrapbooking and stamping stores in Maine have closed.  Currently I am relying on Paper Pad Stacks  I find at the big box stores. But I like a variety of paper companies.

 

8.Tell us what are you currently addicted to .  I guess the thing that I am currently addicted to would be my Spellbinders dies,my Martha Stewart border punches and of course my Cricut. Seems like I can't make a project without using at least one of these.

 

9. Tell us your favorite paper crafting season and why.  My favorite paper crafting season would have to be Christmas simply because I love everything about that time of the year.  The project ideas are endless - from cards to gift ideas to home decor.

Introducing our New Design Team Member Kazan Clark

Today we are so excited to announce our first new design team member, Kazan Clark!!  Kazan Clark is the co-owner of 2 Sketches 4 You and a Spellbinders 2009 Design Team Member.  What you can't hear when you visit Kazan's blog is her wonderful South African accent which we just LOVE!!   Kazan's love of paper shows in all her design work.  And her recent addiction to JustRite certainly caught our EYE!!

Our interview with Kazan:

1.Tell us where you live. Along side the majestic Rocky Mountains in Denver, Colorado 

2. Tell us about your family. Kev and I have two gorgeous little girls, Ashton 5 and Alexandra 3.  Our extended family is scattered all over the world - from Canada, Dubai to South Africa. 

3. Tell us how long you have been stamping. Not long at all :) I have only been making cards for 2 years and discovered the joy of stamping shortly after that. 

4. Tell us where you do your stamping. I have converted half our basement into my craft room.  It is has a huge sliding door that leads to our back yard.  I can watch the girls playing outside in the summer while I get my stamping groove going and in winter the fresh snow provides tranquil backdrops for creativity.

5. Tell us what is your must-have stamping tool. Really good cardstock that allows my inks to set without bleeding while keeping colors vibrant.

6. Tell us how long have you been blogging. I just celebrated my two year anniversary - it is a lot of fun, especially because there are such amazing blogs out there for daily inspiration.

7. Tell us who is currently your favorite paper company. Eeek!  Basic Grey, October Afternoon, Cosmo Cricket AND My Mind's Eye.  Did you ask for one favorite?  whoops sorry :) 

8. Tell us what are you currently addicted to . Buttons, ribbons and sewing on my cards - you will probably find  a combination of all 3 on one project . . . and French Vanilla coffee creamer in my coffee (I travel with my own personal stash)!

9. Tell us your favorite paper crafting season and why. Mmmmm...I think I am a Fall moving into Winter gal.  I really get super crafty from October all the way into December.
