Sharon has another great fall project to share with us today- these would be so sweet for Thanksgiving favors!!
Hi, everyone – I’m happy to be back with you again today! I have a pumpkin treat box/place card to share … just perfect for your Thanksgiving table or even as a gift for a teacher or co-worker, I think.
I started by die cutting two pieces of heavy cream cardstock and four pieces of patterned paper with Spellbinders Nested Pumpkin die. I adhered the patterned paper pumpkins to each side of the cardstock pumpkins, to make a nice sturdy and professionally-covered front and back for my box.
To make the box interior, I cut a piece of chocolate cardstock 3” x 7.50” and scored it 2.25” from each end and 1/2” on each long side. Then I cut 1/2-inch in on the long sides where the score lines meet.
Fold the scored lines all in towards the center of the cardstock and fold the the sides up so you form a box frame. Adhere the box frame together at the bottom and then place adhesive on all the 1/2-inch scored U-shape. Then stick the pumpkin pieces to the front and back of the box frame.
For the stamped image, I customized the Favorite Occasions’ 1-5/8” “Give Thanks” border by snipping the “simple blessings” portion away from the “for” and just using the “for” on the lower half of the border. You can see by the packaging in the photo above how it normally should look (click on the photo for a larger view).
Since the border groove of this 1-5/8” Wood Stamper will also accept font, I customized it by adding a name with the 15-point Times New Roman font! I stamped the border with Versamark onto chocolate cardstock and heat embossed it with gold detail embossing powder. I used Spellbinders Blossom die (3rd smallest in the set) to die cut border and then outlined the die cut with gold leafing pen.
I stamped the center cornucopia with Memento Rich Cocoa ink onto Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream cardstock and then colored the image with these Copic markers and Gold Spica glitter pen. I punched the image out with a 1.25” circle punch and adhered it with foam tape to the border piece.
Hopefully this top view of the box gives you an idea of the dimension it has (holding my favorite mini Reese’s peanut butter cups)!!
