Inspiration Friday JustRite Coaster Tutorial by Heidi Blankenship

During the third week of the Stampin' Champion Contest all 5 finalists were asked to make 2 projects for the final round of the contest in case they made it to the finals. Heidi Blankenship made this incredible Appletini Ensemble as one of her projects but didn't make it to the final round of the competition- we were blown away with her creativity and invited Heidi to be our first "Inspiration Friday" Guest Designer. Here's Heidi's "Appletini Ensemble"

Heidi made charms for the glasses, coasters, decorative napkins and I altered the shaker. Here are some closeups of each piece.

Today Heidi has written a tutorial on how she created this yummy coaster. Materials -Small Letter Set, Round Wood Mount Stamp 1- 5/8 ,Spellbinders: Wizard, Universal Die Cutting and Embossing Tool or another Die Cutting Machine, Large Classic Circle Nestabilities (S4 114) ,Sticky Back Felt **Tip--one 9 x 12 sheet will make four (4) coasters. Copic: Sketch Markers and ABS (Air Brush System) ** ,BG45 Nile Blue---Coasters,YG13 Chartreuse, G24 Willow---Appletini, R29 Lipstick Red---Cherry, B00 Frost Blue, 0 Colorless Blender---Stem of Glass. Crafty Secrets: Glamour Girls Stamp Set (Martini Glass). Ranger: Adirondack Pitch Black Pigment Ink, Stickles-Arctic Ice, Red ,Sparkle N Sprinkle: Sparkling Snow Glitter,Beacon: ZipDry Adhesive,White Cardstock ,Dimensional Glaze, Acetate, Light Weight Chipboard ,Heating Tool .

Heidi created her coaster using a Spellbinders Wizard Die Cutting Machine. Here is her tutorial:

Step 1 To cut out the felt for the coasters you will need to begin by building your sandwich with the mats. Here are the steps: 1)White Mat 2) White Spacer Plate 3) Large Circle Nestabilities with the cut edge facing up.

4)Sticky Back Felt with the felt side down. 5) One piece of cardstock for a shim 5) White Mat 5) One piece of cardstock for a shim 6)White mat Because you are pushing the limits of the depth of the cut edge on the die when using a thicker felt with a sticky back you will want to add a piece of cardstock as a shim and run it through the Wizard twice. Also because of the adhesive backing you may have to trim the edges with a scissors. Step 2

Airbrush the felt piece using the Copic ABS and sketch marker BG45. **Tip--If you don't have an ABS you can directly apply the marker to the felt to add the color.

Step 3 After airbrushing the felt piece will feel a little tacky to the touch. Sprinkle on a small amount of glitter and use your fingers to work it into the felt. Tap off excess and set aside to dry.

Step 4

Apply Stickles to the center and the outer edge of the felt piece. Set aside to dry.

Step 5

Using the Small Letter Set and the Round Wood Mount Stamp (1- 5/8) from JustRite Stampers add your sentiment to the wood mount stamper. Then stamp it using Adirondack Pitch Black ink onto white cardstock. Add red stickles to the olive to make it into a cherry and the heart. Also add dimensional glaze to the drink. Set aside to dry.

Step 6 Next stamp the martini image in the center of the sentiment and then heat set. Color the image with the Copic markers as listed above. Using ZipDry adhesive add glitter to the rim of the glass. Add red stickles to the olive to make it into a cherry and heart. Also add dimensional glaze to the drink. Set aside to dry.

Step 7 Peel the paper backing off of the felt and cut a piece of acetate a little bigger than the center hole. Apply the acetate to the sticky back on the felt. Then apply the stamped image. Step 8 Using the Wizard and the Large Circle Nestabilities cut a large circle from light weight chipboard and apply to the sticky back of the felt. Mix some drinks and enjoy! *wink*

What is a 2x Stamper?

A 2x Stamper is a pre-inked stamper which is double sided. One side is a popular phrase the second side is a coordinating image.

Meet Jackie Kelley

We thought you would like to meet our Stampin Champion, Jackie Kelley, up close and personal. I was quite surprised to read some of her interview answers. So I had to go do some detective work to see for myself. Not only did she play in the contest consistently every week for the last 4 weeks but would you believe that Jackie has an SCS gallery with 43 pictures and 40 of them are her JustRite Stampin Champion entries? Yep, and she started her blog because of the contest as well. Pretty cool. So take a minute to drop in and visit Jackie's blog, Flamingo Crafts, and give her some love!

Where do you live. - Gulf Breeze, Florida (It's normally where the big Hurricane Bull's-eye is this time of year!)

Tell us about your family. - I have a wonderful husband, Sean, and "son" Chopper the Boston Terrier.

How long have you been a stamper? Hmmm, that's a tough one. I think I "officially" became a stamper in 2004. :)

Where do you stamp at? (studio, spare bedroom, basement, kitchen table, etc) I have a room in our home that was supposed to be the "office", but is honestly my stamping/crafting room with only about 3 feet allocated to the computer. Funny how I took it over as MY room! Now if I could only figure out a way to get the computer out, then it would be mine, all MINE! BUT I'm not limited, I'll stamp just about anywhere/anytime when there are friends around!

What is your favorite "must have" stamping tool? My must have tool is The JustRite Stamper of course! And some kind of cleaning wipe, or scrub (depending on the type of stamp I'm using). But as for my favorite? It changes, I go thru phases . . . right now it's probably my 2 inch scallop punch to coordinate with my JustRite Monogram stamper - that is the only reason I bought the punch after all! :)

How long have you been blogging? About a month! I started about a week after the contest started - see you inspired me in many ways! :)
