The JustRite Stampin' Champion Contest is in full swing! The Splitcoast gallery and blogs are filling up with some wonderful projects and we have some "hopefuls" to announce today. But first let me review the rules. You must use any JustRite product on your entry. You must leave a comment here (any day... doesn't matter what post) and link to your entry. I am so over the moon to be able to share my first project here. I wrote a post on my blog a while back, that as a child my name was very uncommon.Uncommon in the sense that you could not find it pre-printed on all the fun things we love to have as kids.I never got to have anything with my name on it. No license plate for my bicycle, no name on my door, no pens or magnets, and certainly no stationary-nothing. As I have grown my name is much more common and can be found on many things, but I still don't have any of them. When I was asked to be a Guest Designer for JustRite Stampers I was so excited, since I have loved the entire concept of this line since I first saw it. When deciding what to create I chose to finally indulge my need for things with my own name on it! Something I would keep for myself! My color scheme came from a set of notecards, memo pads and other $1 yummies from the Target $ spot! For a mere $4.00 and some change I was able to create an entire gift set (for myself! LOL!) that would cost far more if purchased in a specialty Shoppe. I decorated a pink tin to hold all my goodies a covered a notebook, with a pen memo pad cover and a set of 5 monogrammed notecards with a holder! Now since my inspiration came from the notecards, I kept with the polka dot theme, and of course the colors. I used the small letters set to spell out my name, around the stamper. This item in particular is a MUST have! The more you use the little letters, the easier it all becomes. After my name was in place, I then chose to put my first initial in the center. I really wanted a pop of pink, so I decided to stamp the daisy from Floral Frenzy, in the center of all my name pieces. I love that added touch. For the polka dots I didn't want to go overkill with all the color, so I stamped the open line dots from Polka Dot Basics and then punched out 1/4 circles in the coordinating colors, and randomly glued them into place! I kept with the theme for the entire collection. I was so happy with how it turned out. Now I have that personalized gift set I always dreamed of having.

What I really love with JustRite Stampers is that now, no matter what the person's name, or initials, you can custom create a fabulous gift, for a small fraction of the cost a custom made one would be. We are very excited to introduce the super talented and fabulous Lauren Meader as the JustRite Guest Blogger for the week. 1. Where do you live? Pittsfield NH 2. Tell us about your family. Well I am happily married to a man who is extremely supportive of my hobby turned obession! He is always very encouraging when I have some BIG dream. Sometimes I need a little push and he is right there to offer it. He also has great respect for the work that goes into being a SAHM and makes sure that I get some time for me! We have 3 children Alexa (she from my first marriage) who will be 9 in September. She is my oldest, and has challenged me in so many ways, and all these challenges have helped me become the person I am, and look at life in a fresh new light. Alexa has Down Syndrome, and as I'm sure most people know in Feb of "06" was diagnoised with Leukemia. She underwent 2 1/2 years of treatments, and many medical up's & down's. She finished her last treament this past May, and is currently in remission!! My other 2 children are Noah who is 5, and the little caretaker of everyone. He is just like his dad. Very sensitve kind, and caring. Then there is Amber who just had her 4th birthday. She is the one who is very girly, and likes to be crafty. All the kids really are into Arts & Crafts I think because they see me so into on a daily basis. They also enjoy the fun things we do for their classmates. Life with 3 children keeps me very busy!! I enjoy being able to have them participate in fun activites on a dialy basis that lets them explore their inner artist. 3. How long have you been stamping? Well I began stamping 4 years ago, but only actually stamping for 3 ( I had to minus one due to hopsitalizations with Alexa) 4. Where do you do your stamping? (kitchen table, stuido, basement, spare bedroom) I am very fortunate that my husband created my stamp room, in an unsed room in out basement. Its great! Even has a window! I have photos on my blog. I LOVE my space. It's not as fancy as some, but its all MINE! 5. How long have you been blogging? I began bloggin in March of "07" so a little over a year. I wasn't even going to bother. I felt I wasn't that interesting and who would really care to read it. Well I was so wrong! I have a super amazing group of readers who are just so supportive and encouraging. I think many people can identify with some aspect of my life, as I am so open about everything I do, from creative ideas, to obstales, then onto my mommy drama! LOL!! I am so thankful I did start blogging because I have some to know so many people I otherwise would not have. That is the best part. 6. What is your ulitmate must have "go to' stamping tool? My Scor-Pal!!! I use it on every project. Weather it is to score my card, or create something else. I love to create 3D items and this is always on my desk! I seriously don't know how I lived without it.

JustRite Stampin' Champion Contest

With Olympic fever in the air we thought it would be fun to hold our own competition. How would you like to be a JustRite Stampin' Champion? We have seen the galleries and the blogs and it obvious to us that you have been in training. Here is your opportunity to show the entire stampin' world that you've got what it takes to be a Gold Medal JustRite Stampin' Champion. **The Rules** It's really simple. For the next four weeks you get to stamp your heart out using ANY JustRite product. Enter as often as you like. Yep, that's it. Make a card, make a tag, make a scrapbook page, make a stationery set, make a book mark, make a recipe card, make a Christmas gift, make them all. More Questions and Answers

Welcome back to some more questions and answers. Today I am also going to give you a punch demonstration using The Paper Studio punches at Hobby Lobby or online at Crafts Etc. They are big and pink and look a lot like McGill punches. But first let's get to the two questions received yesterday. Linda said.... Two more questions. How would you make a monogram if the last name is hyphenated? And what do you do when the last name has 2 parts like Van Something? Answer: For an individual monogram with a hyphenated last name such as Diane Smith-Bradley you would do DBS. If you were doing a monogram for a couple you would use the man's last name. The monogram for Diane Smith-Bradley and William Bradley would be DBW. For the last name that starts with Van Something you would use the letter "V" just like our friend Taylor Van Bruggen did on these adorable cupcake note cards. I did receive a question on how to clean the stamps and tomorrow I will address that with some pictures too. Sometimes it's hard to answer without a visual to go with the description. OK...onto today's projects that were pictured above. All of today's projects were created using the JustRite Stampers border set called From the Desk/Library/Kitchen Of. This set is so versatile when it comes to making personalized gifts for anyone. The only punches used on today's project were the 1 7/8" circle and 2 5/16" Scallop from The Paper Studio which is found at Hobby Lobby and they do come in small sizes which will also accommodate our Small Monogram Stamper. I have given you a visual of top and bottom of the punches so that you can see how easy it is to line up your image. My only complaint is that these punches are a little hard to push and maybe they will get better the more I use them. But as far as sizing goes they are a perfect match to the JustRite Large Monogram Stamper and any of the JustRite stamper kits. This layout was completely inspired by the beautiful card made by Laurie Schmidlin from the Stamper's Dream Design Team. I used the From the Desk Of border and included the monogram for Cris Sandra Mullins. Next I used the From the Kitchen Of border and included Cris' name instead of her monogram. This card should look familar as the very taleneted Michelle Wooderson made these recipe cards during her Guest Blogger week here at JustRite Stampers. The next project is a book marker that was made from a jumbo paper clip found in the office supplies at Walmart. The three letter monogram was added again. The clip was accessorized with some ribbon from Creative Impressions. Monogram Questions and Answers

Thanks for following along this week with our Monogram Etiquette series. I think most of the questions were answered as each day progressed. I have posted answers to some questions below and will be posting more information regarding punches. Below I addressed the Nestabilites questions. Sue_W said... Thanks for the lesson in Monogram Etiquette. Lessons learned are always good. ;-)What I want to know, however, is what was used to cut out the monogrammed circles and the layered pieces? Were they punches? die cuts? Nestabilities? And what sizes were used? Answer: On day one, Nestabilities Classic Circles and Scallops were used for the Beth and BRT card. The B card was punched with SU circle and scalloped punches. Mary said... Want to clear up any confusion out there on a monogram for a couple? That is, does the husband or wife's first initial go first? I have seen it done both ways, but I THINK I know that only one is "right." Thanks! Answer: Ladies first when it comes to monogramming. Alexis said...I would like to know what size punches you use to cut out the momogram for the C-45. Thanks! Answer: The Large Monogram Stamper (formerly known as the C-45) measures 1 5/8" in diameter. I use the Nestabilities Circle that is the third ring on the Large Circle Set. For the mat I use the fourth circle on the Small Circle Set and for the Scallop I use the third scallop on the Large Scallop Set. Depending on how much scallop you want showing the third scallop on the Small Scallop set works too.

Above is the third ring on the Large Circles. I like to see all of my JustRite border once it is cut out so I opt to use the circle that give me enough white space around the stamped border. Above you can see the cut layers starting left to right the third ring from the Large set, the fourth ring from the Small set and the third ring from the Large Scallop set. Here is an example of the monogram cut and layered with the sizes I described above.

Vera Matson said... I love your series on monogram etiquette! I have a question. I love to make monogrammed note cards for gifts. When making gifts for acquaintances such as teachers, what is the most appropriate type of monogram to use? I often don't know the middle initial of the teachers, so should I make first or last initial gift cards? Thanks! Answer: That is a good question and also a personal judgement call for you. Either way is appropriate for stationary. So if you are making a gift for someone and don't know thier name you can decide if you want to use their first or last initial as your single monogram. One question that did not come up was who's initial do you use when giving a monogrammed note card....your's or the recipient's? It should be your monogram on the note card that you are mailing or attaching to a gift. It is your personal stationary and you are writing inside the card so it should carry your initials on the front. Monogram Etiquette Part 3

Welcome back for part 3 of Monogram Etiquette. Today we are going to talk about wedding monograms. It is not proper etiquette to use your married monogram before you are actually married. Save the date cards, shower invitations, thank you notes, etc should only contain your first initials in the monogram. The items posted here are representing the bride and groom after they were married.

After the ceremony, use your married monogram on anything you wish. The reception is a great place to proudly begin displaying your new monogram on napkins, programs, table runners, menus and favors. In this example, I have created a favor with Susan and Micheal Connor's married monogram. As I explained yesterday, ladies first when it comes to a married couple's monogram. Susan on the left, Michael on the right and Connor in the middle. This box was embossed and filled with bird seed to toss as the bride and groom exit the church. This monogram was created using the Large Round Monogram Stamper and the Curlz Kit font. This is a mini album that was created as a wedding favor. It is filled with pictures of the couple. This time the favor was monogrammed with a single large letter "C" from the Curlz Kit and the border is from the Damask 1 Letter Border Set. Finally, the thank you notes are made to proudly display the single monogrammed letter "C" representing the couples last name. In this example, the monogram was created using the Small Monogram Stamper Kit with Damask Borders.

I think I have covered all the questions except the most popular question. "What do you use to punch out the circles?" Tomorrow I will give you a complete run down of how I punch my circles with Nestabilities dies, SU punches, Marvy punches and The Paper Studio punches. I am on the look out for the McGill punch but can't seem to find it.
